Set in the sand like a rare jewel, this newly built Florida beach home looks as though it were born in the French countryside.
On the south side of Scenic Highway 30A, which is the most desirable area in Santa Rosa Beach, the gated property is “unlike anything else in the area because of its acreage,” said Hilary Farnum-Fasth of Corcoran Reverie, who listed the half-acre property in March. Lots that large “are unheard of,” she added.
Designed for luxury living and entertaining, the estate “blurs indoor and outdoor spaces,” she said.
The seller, who is of Scandinavian background, bought the vacant land and designed the house for his own personal use. His plans, however, changed, and he never moved in. Construction was completed right before the house was listed.
The provincial-style home gets its French accent from a coquina shell facade, white oak floors, high ceilings, and exposed wood paneling and ceiling beams.
“The wood is 100 years old, so you feel like you’re in a luxury hotel or a European villa,” Farnum-Fasth said. “It’s a private experience, which is what buyers in the luxury market are looking for.”

Stats

Set on a half acre, the 4,283-square-foot house has three levels, five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Amenities
The landscaped grounds have olive and cypress trees and an herb garden. The outdoor entertaining space includes a fire pit, fountains, an oversized swimming pool, an outdoor shower and a summer kitchen. The cabana house has a guest suite, and there is ample space for parking on the property, another factor that makes it a rarity.

Meanwhile, zoning allows for a 2,000-square-foot commercial component such as a yoga studio or a retail boutique. The house includes a multipurpose room that can become a theater, a guest suite, a secondary living area or a home office.

Neighborhood Notes

Santa Rosa Beach, a Gulf Coast town on the Florida panhandle, is a haven for those who own second homes and vacation houses.
“Its culinary and artistic aspects make it very special,” Farnum-Fasth said. “With the white sand and turquoise waters, it looks like the Caribbean.”
